Chisora's Thrilling Win at New Plymouth: What's Next?
Chisora delivered a fantastic performance at New Plymouth yesterday, securing a thrilling victory that had hus owners on the edge of their seats. It was a heart-stopping finish for a horse that was as low as $1.24 in the betting markets at one point—proof of his enormous potential, despite showing plenty of greenness.
Great Potential with More to Come
Chisora’s performance showcased raw talent, but there’s no doubt he’s still learning. With natural ability and plenty of upside, we think the world of this horse. That’s why we’ve decided it’s time for a short break before targeting some of the bigger three-year-old races in the Autumn.
We’re especially excited to see Chisora step up to 1600m+ distances later in the season. As a son of Belardo, we expect him to keep improving over time—these bloodlines are known for producing late bloomers who thrive with maturity.
Allan Sharrock’s Hot Streak
Trainer Allan Sharrock is on fire right now! He claimed three winners on the day, continuing an incredible run of form. He currently sits fourth on the NZ Trainers Premiership with a strike rate of 3.79, an impressive achievement that highlights his skill and consistency year in and year out!
Elite Riding from Rory Hutchings
We can’t overlook the contribution of Rory Hutchings, who gave Chisora a masterful ride. It’s fantastic to have an elite jockey of his caliber back in New Zealand, even if only for a short period. His talent and experience were on full display to keep Chisora under control the final 75m.
