Exceptional Value – The Best-Bred Filly I’ve Ever Purchased
I’m thrilled to introduce the Wootton Bassett x Fatella filly—the best-bred filly I’ve ever purchased. Acquired for just $100,000 + GST, she represents outstanding value and was an absolute steal late in the sale.
Wootton Bassett – The World’s Best Sire
Wootton Bassett stands at Coolmore Stud in Ireland for €300,000 (~NZ$500,000), making him the most expensive stallion in the world. His influence in the Southern Hemisphere has been immense, and his first Australian-bred crop is already dominating.
The 2024 season was always going to be an important test for Wootton Bassett, with his first crop of Coolmore-sired 2YOs reaching the racecourse in Europe. The results have been spectacular, with no fewer than 13 of them becoming black-type winners, including a total of ten Group winners smashing the previous record of seven held jointly by Danehill and Galileo.
- His oldest Australian-bred horses are just two-year-olds, yet he has already produced leading Golden Slipper contenders.
- Wodeton by Wootton Bassett purchased by Coolmore for $1.7 million won his debut by eight lengths and is now Golden Slipper favorite.
- His initial Australian service fee was $72,500, but due to his success, it has now risen to nearly $200,000.
Elite Broodmare Sire – Fastnet Rock
Fastnet Rock dominated as the leading broodmare sire by winners in the 2023/24 season, racking up 320 victories—almost 100 more than he had in 2020/21. His daughters have produced 13 Group 1 winners across five countries, reinforcing his reputation as a top-class broodmare sire. That season alone, his progeny earned over $37 million in Australia, a testament to the strength and consistency of his bloodlines. You really can't find a better broodmare sire in this part of the world.

Serious Two-Year-Old Potential & Residual Value
This filly is a first foal with the strength and maturity to make an impact as a two-year-old. She'll be set for the Karaka Million, with a focus on Group and Listed races to boost her credentials. If she picks up black type by winning or placing at that level, her value as a broodmare will rise sharply. With the smaller field sizes in two-year-old races, she has a genuine chance to achieve that, making her an exciting racing and breeding prospect.
Mark Walker & Sam Bergerson – Te Akau’s Unmatched Success
With Te Akau Racing behind her, she is in the best possible hands. Over the past three years, Mark Walker and Te Akau Racing have dominated New Zealand racing:
- In 2022/23, Walker became the first trainer in NZ history to secure over 200 wins in a season, finishing with a record-breaking 203 victories.
- In 2023/24, Walker and co-trainer Sam Bergerson amassed 169 wins, finishing 69 wins ahead of their nearest competitor.
- As of January 2025, Te Akau Racing leads the NZ Trainers’ Premiership with 76 wins and over $4.9 million in stakes earnings.
